For ZHdK alumna Claudia Polli, one of her student adviser’s three suggestions was a direct hit: industrial design is the 27-year old’s vocation.

Andrea Zeller: How important is craftsmanship in your work?
Claudia Polli: The ability to sketch quickly and intelligibly, whether digital or analog, is indispensable. No object would exist without visualisation.

What would you change at ZHdK?
I would introduce compulsory internships for each programme. I spent a year at Tatic Design Studio in Milan and learned a lot. It’s a reality check for the time after graduation and helps to better assess one’s own talents and interests.
